North Texas is set for a remarkable transformation with the upcoming DFW Discovery Trail, a 66-mile pedestrian and cycling route connecting Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Irving, and Grand Prairie.
Launched in 2013, the project has already made major strides — over 50 miles are open to the public, with full completion anticipated by 2026.
The trail’s name, chosen by public vote in August 2022, reflects the community’s desire for a path dedicated to discovery and connection across the Metroplex.
In August 2024, construction began on the CentrePort Trail, which will link the Trinity Railway Express CentrePort Station to Arlington’s River Legacy Trail, with completion expected by mid-2025.
By September 2025, a new bridge over the Trinity River will seamlessly connect Fort Worth’s Trinity Trail to Arlington’s trail network, enhancing regional access.
The DFW Discovery Trail is poised to offer greater mobility, cleaner air, and increased tourism, symbolizing North Texas’s commitment to community and sustainability.
